Michael Madl was a centre back at Fulham from 2016 until 2018. An experienced player back in his native Austria, Michael initially joined on loan from Sturm Graz for the duration of the 2015-16 season in January 2016, before joining permanently after a successful spell. He is uncapped at full international level, though was called up to the squad in 2015.
Michael Madl signed on loan for the duration of 2015-16 on 29 January 2016. He played 13 matches and scored a goal against Charlton in a 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage in February 2016. He quickly became a favourite amongst the Fulham faithful and it was with no disappointment when his signature was made permanent in May 2016 with the club spending around £1.25 million for his services.
However, throughout 2016-17 he struggled to force himself as a regular starter due to impressive performances in the defence of both Tomáš Kalas and Tim Ream, whom seemed to be the preferred centre back pairing by Slaviša Jokanović. This carried on into 2017-18, and after only making two appearances in the EFL Cup, he left to join Austria Vienna in the January transfer window.

After leaving Fulham, Michael spent another three seasons at Austria Vienna where he made the decision to retire in 2021 at the age of 33.
