Mahamadou Diarra was a defensive midfielder at Fulham who had two spells at the club (2012-2013 and 2014). He has represented Mali on many occasions, and at one stage, cost Spanish giants Real Madrid £22 million when he was signed from Lyon in 2006. A captain of his national team, Mahamadou is always a leader on the field and plays with strength and composure, seldom making any real mistakes. His first spell at Fulham was plagued with injuries, and after not earning a new contract in the summer of 2013, he remained at the club until the winter in a bid to prove his fitness and earn another contract. He eventually earned a new contract in March 2014 under Felix Magath and participated in four league matches to help bolster the midfield.
