Johnny Heitinga was a defender with Fulham who played as a centre back during 2014. He was signed on deadline day in January 2014 from Everton on a short term deal that ran for the remainder of the season. A strong central defender, he has won many caps for Holland including his appearances at the 2010 World Cup where he participated in the Final. He left after the 2013-14 season after Fulham's relegation from the Premier League.

Career

Before Fulham

Fulham (2014)

Fulham signed Johnny on deadline day January 2014, after the squad was shy of centre backs due to both Aaron Hughes and Philippe Senderos leaving. He was signed on a short term deal until the end of the 2013-14 season after Fulham bought out his contract at Everton. He made his debut just over a week later on 9 February away at Man Utd in a well-fought 2-2 draw against the champions. He quickly became a mainstay in the heart of Fulham's defence for the remainder of the season, and was arguably the clubs best performing defender in an otherwise fairly disastrous run-in. He grabbed his first and only goal in a white shirt during a 3-1 loss against Chelsea as a consolation.

Upon Fulham's relegation from the Premier League in May 2014, Johnny and the club failed to agree a new deal and he left for pastures new.

After Fulham

Upon his release from Fulham, Johnny signed a deal with Hertha Berlin at the beginning of the 2014-15 season.
