The Fulham Under-21 squad is Fulham's current second string side. The age category was first used from 2012 to 2016 in the U21 Premier League and cup competitions, until this was changed to an U23 squad prior to the start of 2016-17. After another review however, the Premier League 2 competition which the team had been competing in, had decided to revert it back to an Under-21 competition ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Created in 2012 after new structures were put in place by the FA; the aim to achieve a larger percentage of young players to get more game time, and to improve the quality of football that is played in reserve team football. It was effectively a continuation of the Reserve squad, with the only changes being that the U21 squad may only name 3 players over the age of 21 in their matchday squad.
